Tune-Yards (commonly stylized as tUnE-yArDs) is back after debuting their fourth studio album I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life in Jan. 2018. Tune-yards is described as indie pop and art pop, along with an electronic influence. The mastermind behind the duo, Merrill Garbus, started the Tune-Yards project in 2006. Nate Brenner joined in 2009 after meeting Garbus in California during the production of the second Tune-Yards album. Garbus creates and utilizes elements from loops pedals, lo-fi percussion, ukulele, and more to create the eccentric sound that makes the Tune-Yards unique.

“Heart Attack”, a recent single off the record, is the standout track that simply make you want to dance. “Heart Attack” has more than just a dance-esque beat, but also carries catchy lyrics. With a simple keyboard intro, followed by looped vocals, turns this into a catch pop track. This track doesn’t draw you in with only the catchy, repetitive lyrics, but it’s also the dance beat that will keep one going all night long.
Garbus creates a vibe and atmosphere with her music that draws the listener in. From the first mainstream track from 2011, “Bizness” (Whokill), Garbus has stayed consistent in her sound, but has also grown within the eclectic sounds of the art pop genre. Beginning with a more simplistic keyboard and backing loops, she has progressed in mixing and mastering more sounds to really differentiate herself. She has such passion for work that truly makes her sound unique.

Tune-Yards are currently on their North American tour. Catch Garbus in the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia areas in early May.
