SONG REVIEW: For You | Will Gomez

When Tessellate last spoke with Will Gomez, an up and coming singer-songwriter from Johnstown, Pa, in a small coffee shop in February, he shared that new music was underway. Fast forward six months, Gomez finally shares a new single, “For You” on Sept. 1. With a light-hearted melody and soft acoustics, “For You”, tells the story of a pair meeting for the first time. Gomez describes in the lyrics how they’ve been waiting for the right person to come into their lives; someone to share interests with and discover how similar they are. Gomez sets the tone for the perfect love song.

With this release, it feels like a new summer love; a breath of fresh air. The perfect mix of guitar and piano chords, Gomez croons with a catchy chorus, “Yes, it’s true / I’ve been waiting for you / Yes, I’ve been chasing, oh you / My heart is racing, oh you, Yeah I’ve been waiting for you”. Not only is this track incredibly catchy, the music makes you want to dance until the sun goes down. All components of the track set perfectly together and hits the heart where it matters most. Although it’s September, maybe summer will have to stick around a little bit longer with this debut.
