A dirty muted guitar wakes you up from your bed. It’s Saturday. You jump out of your bed and start enjoying the weekend.

Saturdays’ instrumental captures the relief that many overworked college students feel when the weekend starts. An unending pulsation of positive energy with large expressions of celebration, reflected in the airy guitars and tinny bass groove.
The lyrics of the track tell a sadder story that betrays the groove that Twin Shadow built. Lines from the track croon about a relationship crumbling away in front of a character, told in first person.
“Know what could make me stay?”

“Maybe we’re a fault line ready to break.”
Haim have a wonderful feature at the end of the song, playing the characters partner. Echoing how they are not totally sure what happened to their love, but it has faded from the “spark” that both parties speak of.
