Florence and the Machine debuted a brand new track last week with the release of “Sky Full of Song”. The song’s debut was a surprise to many, but was not released without a good reason.

Record Store Day comes to the United States and other participating countries Saturday, April 21. In a short article written by Record Store Day UK, the band’s lead singer, Florence Welch shares, “This was a song that just fell out of the sky fully formed. Sometimes when you are performing you get so high, it’s hard to know how to come down.” She continues, “There is this feeling of being cracked open, rushing endlessly outwards and upwards, and wanting somebody to hold you still, bring you back to yourself. It’s an incredible, celestial, but somehow lonely feeling.”

Welch is consistent with her powerful and robust, yet angelic vocals, with piano and string instruments playing softly in the background. The instrumental backing is sure not to detract from the lyrics

“Sky Full of Song” comes as a partnership with Record Store Day and will be released as a limited edition 7" single. There are more extras included in this Record Store Day deal, so be on the lookout on Saturday

Florence and the Machine have not released an album since Spring 2015 with How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. With this debut lead to more new music from Florence and the Machine? We sure hope so!
